For education customers who licence software in quantity and manage software across multiple computers, Microsoft Volume Licensing programs may provide the most cost-effective way to acquire licences. Microsoft offers both “subscription” and “transactional” volume licensing programs for education customers
Subscription: Enrolled institutions have the right to run a selection of products, and any upgrades or downgrades of those products, for a designated term. For application, system, and Client Access Licence (CAL) products, even if the number of computers or users grows, enrollees remain fully licenced throughout their designated term and only need to report increases of their computers or full-time equivalent (FTE) employees on their annual order.
- Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions:
For primary/secondary and higher education institutions and offers the simplicity of counting people instead of computers.
- Microsoft School Enrollment:
School Enrollment is for K-12 primary/secondary schools and preschools and makes it easy to license all of a school’s eligible PCs by counting them just once per year.
Transactional: Customers acquire perpetual software licences (meaning that the institution owns the licences) while eliminating the costs and packaging of retail software.
